WHO IS JACK MAMAIS?

Senior Game Advisor at Away We Go

Jack Mamais is a veteran game designer, director, and educator whose career spans some of the most acclaimed titles in modern gaming. Over several decades in the industry, he has contributed to and led teams on titles that helped define what large‑scale, narrative‑driven action games could be. As lead designer on Far Cry and Crysis, and director of Mech Warrior  2:  Mercenaries and Heavy Gear 2, Jack has shaped experiences that pushed technical boundaries, advanced AI and level design, and set new standards for immersion in the first‑person action genre.

A longtime Professor of Interactive Design and Game Development at the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD), Jack brings both deep industry expertise and a passion for mentoring the next generation of creators.

As a Creative Advisor for Game Design & Production at Away  We  Go  Productions, Jack helps ensure our projects balance accessibility, polish, and purpose. He draws on his experience shipping large‑scale commercial titles to support our teams in areas such as worldbuilding, pacing, UX, playtesting, and production planning. Jack plays a key role in aligning game mechanics with our studio’s mission of developing meaningful, research‑driven games for neurodivergent youth, helping us create experiences that are not only engaging and aesthetically rich, but also supportive, inclusive, and grounded in real player needs.
